Blogging is a great way of communicating with people and of improving communication. These days it’s used by lots of businesses, in teaching and by anyone with anything to say – but it didn’t start out that way.
In 1994, US student called Justin Hall started writing an online diary. This was the first blog and he is known as “the founding father” of blogging. He penned his thoughts for 11 years, by which time blogging had become huge.
Open Diary was launched in 1998 and was the first platform allowing people to publish a blog without the need for any coding knowledge. This paved the way for the blogging platforms we have now including, WordPress, Bloggr and Tumblr.
Blogs have changed from a personal diary to a business tool. So businesses with a website need a blog. Websites with blogs get over 50% more visitors. Blogs are a great way to talk to customers – cuts down on printing leaflets to launch a new service. Blogs show you are an expert in your field and build your reputation. Blogs also help SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).
